Common questions

How do I connect Stripe and Slack?

Full step-by-step is at the Setup Guide. Shortcut: sign in → Settings → Connections → paste a Stripe restricted key, click Add to Slack, pick your channel. Done.

My alerts aren't firing — what do I check?

  1. Confirm both Stripe and Slack show as connected on the Connections page.
  2. Check that your subscription is active (Settings → Billing).
  3. Confirm the emtrio bot is a member of the channel you selected — Slack doesn't deliver to channels the bot isn't in. Invite it with /invite @emtrio.
  4. Trigger a test payment in Stripe (a small real charge or a test-mode event with the Stripe CLI).

Still nothing? Email us with the Stripe event id and approximate timestamp.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Settings → Billing → Manage subscription opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Click Cancel — your plan runs through the end of the current period, then lapses. No refunds for partial months.

I'm getting duplicate alerts.

This shouldn't happen — we dedupe on Stripe event ids. If you see duplicates, email us the event id and timestamps and we'll investigate.

Can I change the Slack channel?

Yes — Settings → Connections → Slack has a channel picker. Your alerts start landing in the new channel immediately.

How do I pause alerts without canceling?

Settings → Connections → Slack → Disconnect. The row stays in our DB (we remember your team and channel) but no alerts are delivered until you reconnect. Billing continues during a pause.

How is my data protected?

Stripe API keys and Slack bot tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. We do not store card details — Stripe handles payments. Details in our Privacy Policy.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes to both. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. Account deletion removes your data from our production database within 30 days; backups rotate out within another 30.

I see "App is not approved by Slack" on the OAuth screen.

emtrio is distributed publicly via OAuth but is not yet listed in the Slack Marketplace. That's the notice Slack shows for any app not in the Marketplace. The app is fully functional — you can safely click through and install.
